Inner Worlds shows how the latest imaging and computational techniques are being used to address fundamental questions in biology by the lab of Enrico Coen at the John Innes Centre.

Flowers and leaves start off as microscopic lumps that somehow turn themselves into elegant shapes. How do plants shape themselves?

Leaves can be needle-like, flat or form cup-shaped vessels that trap animals. How did the variety of leaf forms evolve?

The grass family of plants includes the major cereals like wheat and maize that feed us. How did grasses evolve and how do they build themselves?

Through evolution, populations diverge and produce reproductively isolated species. How do populations become different and how do reproductive barriers between them arise?
